Sonja Kraus has been a sectional coach and teacher in the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Youth Orchestra since August 2015. This orchestra provides young musicians between fourth and twelfth grade with the opportunity to experience wonderful music in an orchestra setting and introduces them to professional work habits. Sonja works individually with many of the cello students and leads the cello sectionals throughout the preparation for the Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (PYO) reharsals. In addition, she coaches the tutti about professional orchestra habits, how to conduct oneself in this setting, and how to work most efficiently in such a big music group.
The main purpose of this orchestra is to develop a love an appreciation for music and music making. Consequently fun programs, warm rehearsal atmospheres, and great program themes are a priority. For more information please visit: http://www.thecip.org/education/philharmonic-youth-orchestra/
